Early Spring Rose Bed...

Posted by Picasa

Photo taken by Deborah 2011. By the end of summer this poor rose bed was chocked with poke weed and morning glories.

Spring 2011 Roses

These beauties came from our front rose garden. But I am sad to say that it has been taken over by weeds and huge poke plants. I am hoping my "gardener" will have time this fall to dig up, weed and redesign the rose bed so we can enjoy them next year. (Did I mention that I really, really , really love my "gardener" ? )

Fairy Roses

These sweet and dainty roses came from a cutting that I started about 20 years ago. It is called The Fairy. It came from a bush in the back yard of the Reed House in Matthews. Next time I go to Matthews I will have to see if that bush is still there.

Dillon and his curls.

You can tell from this photo that my sweet boy can be a little rascal ! He especially loves to rile his sister.

How not to tear your shoulder while slinging a big ole, heavy sack of garbage into the back of your husband's truck , because it is Saturday and the dump won't be open again until Tuesday, and you don't want that smelly bag in your house till then !!

JUST DON'T DO IT !!!!! What is that saying about hindsight ? Well, here I am preparing for yet another surgery. Monday I will be having arthroscopic surgery on my right shoulder. Three of the four tendons in my rotator cuff are torn. ( One 50 percent and two 100 percent. ) The surgeon said that I will not be able to use my right arm for four weeks and then three months of P. T. ( I wonder if I will be able to use my fingers to type ? ) This will be the fifth surgery I have had in under three years and do you know what I am dreading the most....? Needles !!!
Sixty years old and still hate needles especially when they try to start I.V.s and can"t find a vein...and say "You have weird veins - they run sideways ." Matter of fact, they are making me come in four hours early in case they have to do a picc line. ( Those are not fun either.)

I will also miss my grandkids. Those two think that I am their personal sofa. It is hard to keep them off my lap. Caitlin has already informed me that she will not be going to school this Monday, but will be going to the hospital with me!

Please pray that the surgery will be successful and I will have a quick recovery and that they will have no problems starting an I.V. Pray for David too. He has several jobs he is working on now and will not be able to be at home with me very much. ( But we are so thankful that he has the work.)

No, that is not David tagging that wall, he is still in the electrical business

( My sister whipped up this interesting photo of Caitlin and myself. )

But most of all I will miss going to church , worshiping and being with my fellow believers in Christ.

Amish Apple Brownies | Fruit Dessert Recipes | Just A Pinch Recipe Club

Amish Apple Brownies | Fruit Dessert Recipes | Just A Pinch Recipe Club

A friend tried this recipe for a birthday picnic. I would better describe them as cake squares and they were very moist and flavorful. She used about a one fourth cup less of sugar than the directions called for. This would be the perfect treat to serve with a hot cup of tea or coffee this upcoming fall.

Psalm 55:8-13

"Seek the Lord while He may be found;
call upon Him while He is near;

let the wicked forsake his way,and the unrighteous man his thoughts;
let him return to the Lord, that He may have compassion on him,
and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways declares the Lord.

For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.

For as the rain and the snow
come down from heaven
and do not return there but
water the earth,
making it bring forth and sprout,
giving seed to the sower and
bread to the eater,

so shall my word be that goes
out from my mouth;
it shall not return to me empty,
but it shall accomplish that
which I Purpose,
and shall succeed in the thing
for which I sent it.

For you shall go out in joy
and be led forth in peace;
the mountains and the hills
before you
shall break forth into singing,
and the trees of the field
shall clap their hands.

Instead of the thorn shall come
up the cypress;
instead of the brier shall come
up the myrtle;
and it shall make a name for the
Lord,
an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off ."
