How well I remember cutting out Betsy and her family and friends. We did not have McCalls magazine in our house. Even if we had, it would have fired many arguments between my four sisters and myself. However, my aunt saved all her old issues and I was allowed to cut out Betsy. There is a fun web site with links to free downloadable paperdolls. The web link is, marilee/us/paperdolls. The first Betsy Mc. dolls came out in 1951. Some of the outfits remind me of those my sisters and I wore.

This photo was taken August 25, 2011 on the Stony Mountain Winery Road in Albemarle. Sadly , the mother appeared to have a broken leg and could not run. You could see that she wanted to get her babies safely away, but only managed to do so at a slow, limping pace.

This photo was taken summer 2011 of the Belk Mansion in Monroe. Dave and I were attending a wedding there. The mansion can be rented for events. It is a beautiful house, both inside and out.
