Three Creek Farms

Now that warmer weather is here , it is time to start planting those pots and flower gardens.  One of my favorite places to visit is Three Creek Farms Garden Center.  This colorful center is overflowing with just about any kind of plants that you could want. Pat and Mitch Hargette  sell annuals ,herbs, garden plants and a huge variety of  planters  on the grounds of their renovated civil war era home in Marshville.
This is a view of their lovely home.

Koi pond on the house terrace.

This one was not for sale, but I hope Pat will get some started in the near future.  They have several different types of succulents and other drought resistance plants.

This is a bougainvillea . (Spell check helped me  with this word !) It is variegated.  I got this from 3 Creek for a Mother's Day treat.

Three Creek Farms is located at 2828 Lansford Road
Marshville , N. C.

Operating hours are Monday thru Saturday
10 am to 6 pm.

Come on out to the country. Bring a lunch and make a day of it . Enjoy the picaresques Union County farm land.

Beautiful plants at very reasonable prices !!!

You can see more photos of the house and garden center at www.threecreek.com/Blog.

Enjoy your visit........it's well worth the drive !

Art Mawmaw in the Kitchen

Well, last week I volunteered to make cookies for our senior citizen rec. center. Things did not go too good. First of all, I made some glutin free shortbread from a mix. They looked nice... made a great photo , but tasted like slightly sweet, faint buttery, gritty chalk !! Next I stirred up a batch of pecan choc. chip ones. They looked and tasted divine ! That is, the first batch did, I managed to burn the bottoms of all the rest. All was not lost, I still had some brownie mix . And.....all but six of those stuck to the bottom of the pan Ah, all was not lost. I loaded up glutin free, non burned and unstuck goodies and headed for the center. No one was there !! Back home I went with my home baked cookies. My hubby and the grands ate the brownies and choc. Chip cookies. And after coating each shortbread with icing and colored sugar, the grands ate those too. People say they LOVE my cooking, but I seem to have lost my touch Maybe it's time I started following the directions on the packages. Happy Eating to you all. Love from the Art Mawmaw.

Anna and Chris Baxter October 31, 2012

Several days after hurricane Sandy made her savage way up the northeast coast, there was a sweet wedding performed on the the Sunset Island beach.  The day was sunny , windy and bright. And yes, very chilly !! The newly wed couple and their guests were chilled to the bone, but enjoyed the ceremony. Congratulations to our oldest daughter Anna and her husband Chris.
